Artikal Sound System Brings It Home to South Florida

Artikal Sound System took it back to their roots with a hometown show in South Florida last Saturday night, May 16th, at the Pompano Beach Amphitheater. The reggae band — comprised of Logan Rex (vocals), Adam Kampf (drums), Chris Montague (guitar), Fabian Acuña (bass), and Christopher Cope (keys) — opened the show before Tribal Seeds, Soja, and Iration all hit the stage as one of the stops on Iration’s Where It All Began Tour.

The crowd filed in early, fully prepared to match Artikal’s high energy set. Logan Rex stepped onto the stage and immediately took command while the rest of the band was visibly vibing off each other’s positive energy. Their setlist spanned multiple albums with songs from their latest record Are You Smiling Yet? mixed with fan faves like Pull Me Close, and a cover of No Doubt’s Just A Girl. Rex pulls off an effortless Gwen Stefani with her own twist, making the song fit into the set like an Artikal original. The high vibes continued as Rex asked for fan participation during a few songs and the crowd happily obliged. The entire band’s musicianship shined throughout the entirety of their set. A well-oiled machine, Artikal Sound System definitely made South Florida proud — per usual.
